One Option for Softening Expression Lines

BOTOX Cosmetic is a prescription injectable treatment made with onabotulinumtoxinA. It works by temporarily reducing the muscle activity that contributes to certain facial lines and wrinkles.

At BMAW, BOTOX is used thoughtfully and conservatively. Our goal is not to eliminate every line or every bit of movement. We want you to look refreshed, balanced, and still like yourself.

BOTOX Cosmetic is FDA approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and vertical bands connecting the neck and jaw in adults.

How Does BOTOX Work?

Repeated facial movements such as frowning, squinting, smiling, and raising the eyebrows cause the muscles beneath the skin to contract.

Over time, those repeated movements can contribute to visible expression lines.

BOTOX works beneath the surface by temporarily reducing the activity of selected muscles. As those muscles relax, the appearance of the lines they create may soften.

What Areas Can BOTOX Treat?

Depending on your anatomy and individual goals, BOTOX Cosmetic may be used for:

  • frown lines between the eyebrows
  • horizontal forehead lines
  • crow’s feet around the eyes
  • vertical neck bands, also called platysma bands

Not every line or concern is best treated with a neurotoxin. Your facial movement and anatomy are evaluated before treatment recommendations are made.

What Makes BOTOX Different?

BOTOX Cosmetic is one of the most established and extensively studied aesthetic neurotoxins. It has been FDA approved for cosmetic use for more than 20 years.

For some clients, familiarity with the product or a history of good results with BOTOX makes it their preferred choice.

For others, another neurotoxin may be more appropriate.

At BMAW, we do not believe everyone needs the same product. We help you choose based on your facial anatomy, previous treatment experience, goals, and individual response.

When Will I See Results?

For treatment of forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, some people may begin to notice a change within 1–2 days. Full results may continue to develop over several weeks.

Results are temporary and may last up to approximately four months, although individual response varies.

What Is Treatment Like?

Treatment is performed in the office using a series of small injections placed into selected muscles.

The treatment itself is generally brief. Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising, or headache may occur.

Before treatment, we review your health history, medications, previous neurotoxin use, risks, expected results, and aftercare.

The BMAW Approach

We do not begin with a predetermined number of units.

We begin with your face.

We evaluate how your muscles move, where your lines form, your brow position, symmetry, previous treatments, and what you hope to improve.

Our goal is thoughtful treatment that softens what bothers you without taking away the natural movement and expression that make you look like yourself.

Evaluation comes first.

Is BOTOX Right for You?

BOTOX is not appropriate for everyone.

Your medical history, medications, previous reactions, neuromuscular conditions, infection at a proposed injection site, and other health considerations may affect whether treatment is appropriate.

BOTOX Cosmetic also carries an FDA boxed warning about the potential for the effects of botulinum toxin to spread beyond the injection area and cause serious symptoms, including difficulty swallowing or breathing.

We review these considerations with you before treatment.
