Collagen-Supporting Treatments Personalized to Your Skin
The Microneedling Treatments at BMAW
Microneedling is designed to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural repair response and supporting collagen remodeling.
At Botta Medical Aesthetics & Wellness, we do not use a single microneedling technique for everyone.
Depending on your age, skin quality, concerns, treatment goals, previous treatments, and tolerance for downtime, we may recommend Secret RF radiofrequency microneedling, GlycoAla Bio, or manual microneedling with a professional derma roller.
Our goal is to select the treatment that makes the most sense for your skin at that point in time rather than automatically choosing the most aggressive or energy-intensive option.
Cutera Secret™ RF Microneedling
BMAW offers Cutera Secret RF, a fractional radiofrequency microneedling treatment.
Secret RF uses very small microneedles to deliver controlled radiofrequency energy beneath the surface of the skin at selected depths. The combination of microneedling and heat-based RF energy creates controlled areas of treatment within the skin to stimulate collagen remodeling.
Secret RF may be considered for concerns such as:
- Fine lines
- Uneven skin texture
- Enlarged pores
- Acne scarring
- Certain other scars
- Sun-related skin changes
- Loss of skin quality or firmness
Because radiofrequency energy introduces controlled heat within the treated tissue, Secret RF produces a different type of response than microneedling alone.
Treatment depth, energy settings, and expected downtime are individualized according to the area being treated, the condition of the skin, and the goals of treatment.
GlycoAla Bio®
GlycoAla Bio offers another approach to skin renewal.
Rather than using traditional metal microneedles, GlycoAla Bio uses naturally derived microscopic spicules to create tiny pathways within the superficial layers of the skin. This stimulates renewal while helping selected active ingredients penetrate more effectively.
GlycoAla Bio may be considered for clients looking to improve concerns such as:
- Uneven skin texture and tone
- Enlarged or congested pores
- Oily or acne-prone skin
- The appearance of acne marks
- Hyperpigmentation and discoloration
- Sun-related skin changes
- Fine lines and overall skin quality
- Dull or tired-looking skin
For selected clients, GlycoAla Bio can provide a gentler approach to skin renewal with less downtime than more intensive treatments.
Manual Microneedling With a Derma Roller
Not every client needs, wants, or is best suited for a heat-based treatment.
BMAW also offers manual microneedling using a professional derma roller when appropriate.
A derma roller contains very small needles that are passed over the skin in a controlled manner to create microscopic channels. These controlled mechanical micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s natural healing response and encourage collagen remodeling.
Unlike Secret RF, manual microneedling does not deliver radiofrequency energy and does not introduce heat into the skin.
For some clients, this provides the appropriate amount of stimulation without the additional thermal injury created by RF energy.
Treatment Planning
Microneedling treatments are generally planned as a series rather than as a single isolated treatment.
Whether we recommend Secret RF, GlycoAla Bio, or manual microneedling, the number of sessions and the timing between treatments are individualized based on your skin, the concern being treated, your response to treatment, and your overall goals.
We allow time for the skin to heal, respond, and remodel between treatments before deciding what should come next.
Which Type of Microneedling Is Right for You?
There is no single answer.
The best choice depends not only on what you would like to improve, but also on your skin, your age, your treatment history, your tolerance for downtime, and where you are in your overall treatment journey.
Secret RF may be appropriate when deeper, heat-assisted collagen remodeling is desired.
GlycoAla Bio may be considered when a more superficial, non-device-based approach to skin renewal is appropriate.
Manual microneedling may be appropriate when we want to stimulate collagen and skin renewal mechanically without adding thermal energy.
For some clients, another treatment entirely may make more sense.
During your consultation, we will evaluate your skin, discuss what you would like to improve, review relevant medical and skin history, and recommend the approach we believe is most appropriate for you.
Our Approach: Regeneration Without Unnecessary Treatment
At BMAW, we believe more treatment is not automatically better treatment.
Both traditional microneedling and RF microneedling work by intentionally creating controlled injury so that the skin responds by repairing and remodeling itself. RF microneedling adds another element: controlled thermal energy within the skin.
That additional heat can be useful in the right situation, but it is not necessary for every client or every concern.
Our philosophy is to use the amount and type of stimulation that we believe is appropriate for the individual. Sometimes Secret RF is the better choice. Sometimes GlycoAla Bio offers the right balance. Sometimes manual microneedling is more appropriate. And sometimes your skin may benefit more from a completely different treatment.
We take a thoughtful, conservative approach and allow time for the skin to respond, heal, and remodel before deciding what should come next.
Our goal is not to use the most powerful technology available. It is to choose the treatment that makes the most sense for your skin.
