XEOMIN is a prescription injectable treatment made with incobotulinumtoxinA. Like other aesthetic neurotoxins, it works by temporarily reducing selected muscle activity that contributes to expression lines.

XEOMIN is FDA approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe upper facial lines in adults, including frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet.

How Does XEOMIN Work?

Lines that appear when we frown, smile, squint, or raise our eyebrows are often called dynamic lines because they are influenced by muscle movement.

XEOMIN temporarily reduces the nerve signals that cause selected muscles to contract. As those muscles relax, the appearance of upper facial lines may soften.

What Areas Can XEOMIN Treat?

XEOMIN is FDA approved for temporary improvement of:

• frown lines between the eyebrows
• horizontal forehead lines
• crow’s feet around the eyes

These areas may be treated individually or together, depending on your anatomy, muscle movement, and treatment plan.

What Makes XEOMIN Different?

XEOMIN has a different formulation from some other botulinum toxin products.

Its manufacturing process removes accessory or complexing proteins, leaving the active botulinum neurotoxin without those additional proteins. The manufacturer describes XEOMIN as double-filtered using its XTRACT Technology.

This does not mean that XEOMIN is automatically the right choice for everyone, but it is one of the reasons some clients and providers prefer it.

When Will I See Results?

Results develop gradually after treatment.

XEOMIN’s manufacturer reports that results typically last approximately 3–4 months, although the onset and duration of effect can vary from person to person.

What Is Treatment Like?

Treatment is performed in the office using small injections placed into selected muscles.

Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, headache, or other injection-related effects may occur.

Before treatment, we review your medical history, medications, previous neurotoxin treatments, expected results, possible risks, and aftercare.

Is XEOMIN Right for You?

XEOMIN is not appropriate for everyone.

Certain medical conditions, medications, previous reactions to botulinum toxin products, neuromuscular disorders, infection at a proposed injection site, and other factors may affect whether treatment is appropriate.

XEOMIN also carries an FDA boxed warning about the potential for the effects of botulinum toxin to spread beyond the injection area and cause serious symptoms, including difficulty swallowing or breathing.
